Draft Woking Town Centre Masterplan
The Council consulted on a Draft Town Centre Masterplan, for a period of 12 weeks from 25 July 2022 to 17 October 2022. Thank you to everyone who participated and responded to the consultation. The Planning Policy Team are currently working to record and analyse the representations received, and will provide a further update in due course.
The information below is provided for information, as the consultation is now closed and representations can no longer be accepted.
Once adopted, the Woking Town Centre Masterplan will have status as a Supplementary Planning Document and will be a material consideration in planning decisions. It provides an overarching framework to guide development and investment decisions in the Town Centre and covers a range of topics. This includes a Townscape Strategy, which provides guidance on building heights across the Town Centre.
The Masterplan is accompanied by an annex, which provides Site Specific Guidance on sites identified for development through the Town Centre. This provides an indicative illustration of the type of development that could be achieved, including yield, layout, height and massing of buildings.
- The Site Specific Guidance annex can be downloaded here
Representations can be sent via email to Planning.Policy@woking.gov.uk or can be sent to us via post at the following address:
Planning Policy, Woking Borough Council, Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking, Surrey, GU21 6YL.
Please be aware that we cannot accept anonymous comments for any consultations, so representations will generally include your name, your organisation and/or any comments you make.
Whilst all are encouraged to read the Masterplan in full, the Council's Community Hub website provides a brief overview of each section of the Masterplan. It also includes question forms and a link to a pin-drop map to give feedback on the Masterplan, as well as an interactive 'Story Map'. This can be accessed here.
From 20 August 2022 - 7 September 2022, there are a number of drop-in sessions taking place in our 'Pop-Up Shop' for those who would like to discuss their thoughts with officers. Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11am - 3pm, 2 Mercia Walk (opposite Starbucks).
UPDATE at 9 Sept 2022. Due to the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, as a mark of respect, the Masterplan Shop will remain closed until after the funeral.
