Woking Borough Council

Revised Statement of Community Involvement (Draft)

The revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how and when the Council intends to engage the public in the planning process, on Local Development Documents, planning applications and Neighbourhood Plans.

The existing SCI, available here, was adopted in February 2015. The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 require local planning authorities to review their SCIs every five years.  The SCI has been reviewed and amended to reflect changes in national planning policy, to reflect up-to-date information, and to make it more user-friendly.

The Council are inviting comments on the revised document from 27 September until 5pm on 8 November. All responses will then be taken into account before finalising the document for adoption. The consultation document is available to download below:

Paper copies can be viewed at the Council Offices (by pre-appointment only) or at the local libraries in the borough (including West Byfleet once it has been relocated).

You can submit your responses by:

  • Emailing Planning Policy at planning.policy@woking.gov.uk; or
  • Writing to Planning Policy, Woking Borough Council, Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking GU21 6YL.

Please be aware that all comments will be made publicly available and identifiable by name and, where applicable, organisation. Any other personal information provided will be processed in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.  If you have any questions on the draft SCI, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Planning Policy Team on 01483 743871.
